    Shawnessy was formed in 1981. What are the borders? Shawnessy Boulevard to the north, Macleod Trail to the east, 162nd Avenue S to the south, and James McKevitt Rd to the west. Home prices in the area range from as high as $600k to as low as $400k, and 3,300 homes comprise the community as a whole. In 2012 the population was 9,385.

    Residents of Shawnessy enjoy CTrain access as well as bus service via routes 52, 15, 11 and 12.

    Parks & Recreation
    Shawnessy is close to restaurants, malls and shops. This is unique when compared to other Calgary communities. Just south of the community is the Shawnessy Village Shopping Center, which many other communities in the surrounding area rely upon; stores include, amongst others, Home Depot, Safeway, Real Canadian Superstore, Canadian Tire, and Winners.

    In the center of Shawnessy is Shawinigan Park and it has a softball field, as well as an ice skating rink. A short drive north is the Shawnee Slopes, Millcrest Park, the Fish Creek Provincial Park and others, while to the east is Sundance Park and to the south is the off-leash dog park called Spruce Meadows.
